When a Friend Disappoints You
by Finding You is finding me…
When a friend disappoints you just remember this Bible verse:
“The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.”
How do you deal with people who disappoint you? Remember that the Lord is compassionate, gracious, slow to anger and abounding in mercy….
“Abounding” means “filled to the very brim with.” How can we be filled with such abounding love for one another?
John 15:13 says:
“This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends…. This I command you, that you love one another.”
If we abide in Christ’s love we can love one another.
1 John 4:7 says:
“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.”
Romans 5:8 says:
“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
In John 13:35 Jesus said that others would know that we are His disciples by our love for one another. Here, He ties our ability to bear fruit with His command that we love one another. As people see the love between Christians, they will be drawn to the source of our love, our Savior who gave Himself for us on the cross.
God’s standard of living is based on His standard of loving. He showed His love for us by dying on the cross.
If you’re not loving the way Jesus loved you’re not living the life Jesus lived.
He loved unconditionally. Sometimes we experience disappointments with friends and family members that could cause us to become hard, bitter, unforgiving and unloving.
But this is not what Jesus wants of us…whoever loves is born of God. I believe this is how we are able to love unconditionally.
When all is said and done you will know Jesus to the level you love and live like Jesus.
